Helping Men Tackle Dating

By Jayde Johanssen

The world of dating can be an incredibly scary place. Most people are very hesitant to really put themselves out there because it requires an extraordinary amount of vulnerability and trust. Everyone is going to get hurt to some degree in their romantic lifetime, this is a simple reality that people need to come to terms with in order to face their fear and pursue their love life in a better fashion.

Dating involves a lot of guts, but the only way for something amazing to happen is for a person to really go after it.

Traditionally it has been the man's burden to pursue the one they want, leaving women waiting around hoping to be the coveted individual. While this social understanding leaves women a little more helpless, it places a rather heavy responsibility on men to put themselves out there time and again. Society is moving in a bit of a different direction, making it more acceptable for women to play the role of romantic hunter, but a great deal of pressure still remains with men.

The responsibility of letting their feelings be known over and over again is an understandably frightening one for most men. A guy does not always know that their feelings are going to be returned and sometimes they simply have to take a leap of faith. This uncertainty pushes a lot of guys to simply opt out of the whole scene, waiting until they find someone they are absolutely sure likes them back, which could leave them standing to the side for quite a while.

Though it might sound like a broken record, confidence is the key element for anyone trying to make it in the dating world. This is especially true for men since a lot of the dating responsibility lies with them.

Confidence is essential because how is someone else supposed to like a guy if that guy does not even really like himself? Confidence generates a kind of magnetism that draws people in, stirring up curiosity and interest within them. Confidence also provides people with something to fall back on in the face of rejection. Without self-confidence, rejection can feel more like a catastrophic blow rather than a minor setback.

When a man is happy with who they are then the chances of someone else liking them just as much are even better. Balanced self-confidence is so appealing that some women might even take on the role of pursuer in order to partner up with the confident male.

Balance is another key element since too much confidence easily turns into cockiness which is a tremendous turnoff for most women. A combination of humility and a strong sense of self is a winning mixture in the tumultuous and sometimes frightening world of flirting, dating, and love, and helps men succeed.
